Formed in 1994 by Jay Farrar following the breakup of the seminal alt-country band Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt has released seven albums of original material to critical acclaim, including 2009's American Central Dust on Rounder Records. Most recently, Farrar collaborated with Yim Yames of My Morning Jacket, Will Johnson, and Anders Parker on New Multitudes, a new interpretation of unrecorded Woody Guthrie lyrics set for release next month on Rounder Records in anticipation of the Woody Guthrie birthday centennial celebration.
