LA FORET
Conference & Retreat Center
Sprawled among more than 400 acres of Ponderosa pine forest and scenic meadows, the nonprofit La Foret provides a welcome haven as a conference and retreat center located just north of Colorado Springs and just east of Interstate 25. With meeting, dining and sleeping facilities for groups large and small, La Foret hosts a variety of events and groups year-round, from corporate and educational to spiritual and family gatherings, weddings and team-building retreats.
La Foret originally was the summer home of Alice Bemis Taylor, a Colorado Springs philanthropist and noted benefactress of the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. Both the Ponderosa Lodge, formerly the main residence at La Foret, and the Taylor Memorial Chapel are on the National Register of Historic Places. Taylor died in 1942, and La Foret was donated to the Rocky Mountain Conference of the United Church of Christ. La Foret is is used by people from all walks of life and all religious backgrounds as a place of serenity, connection with nature and fellowship.
